How to report a student who suddenly stops attending their classes or other university activities, misses an exam, or stops responding to emails.
The Dean of Students Office encourages filing a report in order to make contact with a student who may be in distress.
How the reporting process works
- A report is submitted via the reporting form, by calling 608-263-5700, or by email at doso@studentaffairs.wisc.edu
- After the report is submitted, a staff member in the Dean of Students Office will respond to your contact and initiate the missing student process.
- The Dean of Students Office will determine whether a “welfare check” by police or University Housing staff is warranted.
If you believe the student is in danger, i.e. made a suicidal statement, has a serious medical condition you observed, please give this information to the Dean of Students Office.
